Dr. DamafingThomas provides individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of clinical issues. Dr. Thomas also provides couples therapy regarding issues such as communication problems, pre-marital issues and marital problems. Dr. Thomas’ clinical practice is largely influenced by empirical research, and she has received specialized training in Health Psychology, which focuses on how mental, emotional and social factors affect a person’s physical well-being. Her proudest roles are as a wife and mother. Realizing that being a parent is one of the hardest jobs there is, often without any compass or effective parenting tools or strategies, Dr. Thomas supports parents, one family at a time.

In her work with families, Dr. Thomas is influenced and guided by the research and work of Dr. Jane Nelsen, author of Positive Discipline, and Dr. John Gottman, world renowned for his work on marital stability and divorce prediction. She serves as a speaker and parent educator, conducting seminars and workshops and teaching positive discipline strategies to local schools and communities.
A native of Mali, West Africa, Dr. Thomas is an avid tennis player. She enjoys spending time with family, watching PBS documentaries, listening to all kinds of music, especially inspirational and international, and participating in monthly meetings with her small group of fellow moms.
