Anne Marie Cook, M.Ed./Ed.S., L.P.C.

My counseling practice focuses on the following areas: anxiety disorders, (including obsessive-compulsive, phobias and panic disorder), depression and bipolar, attention- deficit/ hyperactivity disorders for all ages.

I also focus on medical and learning disabilities as these affect the family, social or educational lives of children.

My counseling tools include cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, behavioral therapy and play therapy (for younger children).

It is my experience that the entire family is affected by the struggles of one child or parent. Therefore, I often request that the family participate in the counseling plans.

With my education degrees and knowledge of education law, I have experience addressing children’s needs and rights in the classroom. I frequently consult and coordinate with parents and professionals to prepare appropriate educational plans for children with special needs.

I also work directly with parents and attorneys to prepare the parent plan for divorcing couples. The parent plan is a necessary document included in most divorce settlements that provides for the safety and care of the children. When a family is going through divorce, parent education and the parenting plan are the most important tools for the stability and healing of the children.

I am a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia. I am trained as both a divorce coach and child specialist for families who are going through the trauma of divorce, separation or custody issues.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree in Education and Community Counseling. I have been in practice for over fifteen years and have been a member of the staff of A New Start Counseling Center for over a decade.
