J. J. Dwight Foulk, MED, LPC

Dwight is co-founder of A New Start Counseling Center and has almost 30 years of clinical experience.  During his career as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia he has developed several specialties, including:

• Marital enhancement and reconciliation, with a particular strength in helping couples recover from the devastating effects of extra-marital affairs.
• Understanding and assisting in the management of AD/HD for adolescents, adults and their families, with a strength in understanding the nuances of medications to treat AD/HD and teaming with medical professionals to achieve the correct type of medication and dosage. 
• Assessment and plan development for adolescents and adults with career path/college planning and selection.
• Assisting in the management of mood and anxiety disorders for adults and adolescents.
• Understanding of medications and medical conditions, which allows effective teaming with medical professionals for the ultimate benefit of clients with medical conditions or those requiring medications.

He has an undergraduate degree in Leadership Communications from East Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University.  In addition, he earned a certificate in the integration of psychology and theology from the Psychological Studies Institute, while obtaining the master’s degree from GSU. 

 Dwight has been married for 30 years and has an adult son and daughter.  He enjoys woodworking, remodeling, gardening, and cooking for friends and family.  For years, clients have expressed their appreciation for the unwavering support and loyalty Dwight exhibits through their difficult times, his contagious and seemingly boundless energy, and for the ability to bring a great sense of humor to painful times, thus employing the gift of humor as a healing agent in the psychotherapy process.
